Court Rules

Drop in play:

Colts Neck: Courts change on the hour for tennis or pickleball.

Autumnwood: All hours of Pickleball play at Autumnwood Pickleball is open play with no court reservations. Players will stack paddles to get next available courts. To understand paddle stacking please see overview below:

Pickleball Paddle Stacking at Autumnwood:

Lay your paddle on the ground in an open spot inside the chalk boxes (4 paddles per box for doubles, 2 paddles turned lengthwise for singles) Take note of which group you are in (1, 2, 3, 4...) so when your group is called, you can quickly retrieve your paddles and take the open court.

Stacking flows from LEFT to RIGHT; group 1 plays then group 2, 3, 4, etc. and then it circles back to group 1. The “NEXT GAME” Marker denotes which group gets the next available court in this circular pattern.

Once a game finishes, alert those waiting that there’s an open court. As they retrieve their paddles, move the “NEXT GAME” Marker to the next group.

If there are 9 paddles on the ground when you pick up your paddle to take the open court, you must play your game to 9 points. (Games already in progress can finish to 11.)

Four people who want to play together may stack their paddles in the next available empty box of 4, which may cause you to wait an extra game (or two).

The group called for the next open court goes to the court regardless of whether there are 4 paddles stacked. Anyone (even those just coming off the court) may jump the line and complete the set of 4 to continue play.
