A Holiday Message from RA’s Acting CEO

(Posted Dec. 13, 2021) On behalf of Reston Association employees and all our volunteers, I would like to extend my sincere holiday wishes to the entire Reston community.

I am truly grateful to have been connected to Reston for most of my working life. During my current role as acting CEO for the association, I have seen residents, our boards and committees, and a very dedicated RA staff pulling together to get things done despite some extraordinary challenges. Whether it was passing the 2022-2023 budget in November or our members continuing to take care of one another during the COVID-19 pandemic, the can-do spirit of Restonians has been reflected in a variety of ways this holiday season.

While the global pandemic is still with us, there is much to be optimistic about in Reston. RA will continue to be vigilant in providing our staff and members with important information and many ways to remain safe as they live, work, play and get involved in this special community in the new year. I know I have spent as much time as possible outside this past year – hiking and biking both in Reston and many other locations that Northern Virginia has to offer.  I encourage everyone to take advantage of RA’s and Fairfax County’s nearby parks and open spaces.  It is good for the body and mind.

RA is moving forward with a full range of programs and healthy activities while at the same time addressing the desires of our members to upgrade and better maintain the association’s amenities and natural areas. We are on sound financial footing and will continue to look for innovative and inclusive ways to make our community appealing for all members.

There is a lot on the agenda for 2022. The new year will see improvements to several recreational facilities as new capital projects will be launched. And please remember to vote in the Board of Directors’ election in March. Voting and participating in the association’s wide array of public meetings, whether it be online or in person, are great ways to help us shape Reston in 2022 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Larry Butler
