(Posted Sep. 28, 2021) Covenants staff hosted another Meet & Greet for Cluster Leadership on Aug. 30, the main subject of which was a review of results from our 2021 Cluster Dues Survey. Seventy total complete responses to the survey were submitted by cluster and condominium associations throughout Reston, with the following data points standing out:

  • Average assessment: $1,418.61 annually or $354.65 quarterly

  • Average unit count: 70 units

  • Sidewalk maintenance, snow removal and landscaping of association property are the most common use of assessment monies

  • The vast majority of respondents completed at least one capital project over the past 24 months, with an average reported cost of approximately $23,500. Examples of commonly reported projects include roadway/parking lot and sidewalk paving, and dock replacement.

The raw data collected by the 2021 Cluster Dues Survey was made available to Meet & Greet participants, in addition to a summary of responses. Participants noted that the data was extremely helpful in benchmarking not only their assessment rates, but also assessment collection practices and procedures. Staff noted that feedback offered on the survey itself has been extremely helpful in planning for our next data collection initiatives.

Thanks so much to all those who participated in both our 2021 Cluster Dues Survey and our Aug. 30 Meet & Greet. Make sure to save the date of Oct. 25on your calendar for our next Meet & Greet event.
