Dear Reston Association members,

Reston Association will hold a Lake Thoreau environmental health virtual meeting Monday, Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. In addition, a Reston Today video will air on RA’s YouTube channel and appear in RA News later this week addressing questions about the current algae bloom on the lake.

Meeting Topics:

  • Hank Lynch, CEO, and Larry Butler, COO, will review past lake management practices, recent test results and long-term management options, including preliminary estimates for costs. RA provides lakes data to members on a periodic basis.

  • RA vendor, Aquatic Environment Consultants, will present the lake treatment and data collection reports.

  • The association’s Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) Chair, Doug Britt, is scheduled to speak about the current lake situation and the EAC's Reston Annual State of the Environment Report.

  • Explore opportunities to engage the community in the environmental health of RA lakes.

  • Potential 2021 and future budget recommendations.
