Reporting Downed and Hazardous Trees

(Posted Mar. 13, 2023) With spring storm season right around the corner, it’s critical to know whom to contact when a tree falls on or around your property or your cluster’s common ground. Cluster associations should also be prepared in the case of cluster-owned trees or branches that fell or damage power lines, or that fall onto roads or trails:

  • Damaged or downed power lines should be report to Dominion Energy (1-866-366-4357) or NOVEC (1-888-335-0500);

  • Blocked or obstructed roadways should be reported to VDOT (1-800-367-7623) using their online reporting form

  • Responsibility for sidewalks impacted by downed and/or damaged trees can be determined using Fairfax County’s online Walkway Maintenance GIS resource; and

  • Damage to or obstruction of Reston Association pathways should be reported to RA’s Central Services Facility (CSFstaff@reston.org). Fallen, leaning and/or otherwise dangerous tree conditions on RA-owned property that is of concern to adjacent property owners should also be to Central Services Facility Staff.

As always, keep clear of any dangerous or threatening trees and downed wires. Stay safe!
