Background
Since the original Master Plan of Reston in 1964, part of the vision for our community has been to have a fully functioning nature center. In 1967, based on consultation with the National Audubon Society, the Reston Community Foundation wrote that three components were necessary to make a successful nature center: land, an education program and an interpretive building.

Nature House is that building. Nature House opened its doors in November of 2009. The building was gifted to Reston Association by its supporting 501(c)(3) organization, Friends of Reston.
