Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee

The Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee advises the Board of Directors on the sound development, management, and safe use of Reston’s pedestrian and bicycle systems as they relate to infrastructure improvements, accessibility, and promoting the benefits of these systems.

The Pedestrian and Bicycling Advisory Committee publishes their recommendations in a report, Reston on Foot and Bicycle. To view the report click the following:

Meetings: The Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee generally meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Click here to view the Committee Meeting Web Calendar.

Committee Composition: Up to fifteen Reston Association Members, a non-voting Liaison from the Board of Directors, and one or more Staff Liaisons.

PBAC Seeking Youthful Input
If you are a youth resident member of Reston Association (14 years or older), and would like to become more involved in issues of walkability and bicycle transportation in your community, consider attending a meeting of RA's Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee.

Interested young adults should submit the following items to the RA Board & Committee Liaison, Sabrina Faubert, at

1. Statement of interest

Please state your reason for interest in membership on the Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee. Consider some of the following questions in your response. In your informal interview with the RA Board Planning Committee (see note below), you may be asked similar questions.

  • Why do you want to be a member of the Pedestrian & Bicycling Advisory Committee?
  • Why is improved pedestrian and bicycle transportation important to you?
  • What specific improvements do you think could be made to your community’s transportation system to increase biking and walking?

2. Resume or list of relevant experiences

3. One recommendation, either from a teacher or a current member of the PBAC

In coordination with private and public entities, governmental agencies, and citizens, evaluates and provides recommendations regarding necessary improvements to, changes to, or funding for Reston’s pedestrian and bicycle systems/facilities
Assists in developing priorities for funding improvements of such systems
Encourages utilization of pedestrian and bicycle systems for transportation and recreation
Evaluates safety concerns and develop recommendations for implementation and public education.
