Teen, Youth & Family Groups

Volunteer Reston has opportunities for middle and high school students who want to volunteer at events, projects and programs throughout the year. We engage youth who have a variety of goals for their community service hours. Our programs and events are geared for ages 13 - 18.

Youth and Family Group

Creating a volunteer team is the best way for families or groups including youth to register to volunteer together. The team leader creates the team, registers the team members for a volunteer opportunity and is responsible for keeping the team informed and ensuring their attendance.

Below are a couple of photos of volunteer projects that we've hosted for our youth group.

National Days of Service

National Days of Service are a great way to get involved with your family, friends and co-workers. Youth age 5+ and groups are invited to join us on recognized Days of Service, including:

Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service – With 100+ volunteers, Volunteer Reston runs one of the largest MLK Days of Service event in Reston in partnership with Reston Community Center, Southgate Community Center, the Closet and Cornerstones.

Global Youth Service Day – Volunteer Reston host a volunteer project for youth and adult volunteers to make a difference.

Make a Difference Day – Volunteer Reston encourages everyone to take one day a year to try to make a difference in your community and in the world. Remember, making a difference doesn’t have to involve a grand gesture; it can be as simple as buying a cup of coffee or lunch for someone in need or donating your unused clothes to shelters.

Teens wishing to join the Volunteer Reston team must have a parent complete a minor volunteer application and parent must consent by signing and dating the bottom of the minor application - Volunteer Minor Application

Upon completing your application you will receive an email from Reston Association on how you can login to VicNet to register for opportunity.

Log In and Schedule Yourself in VicNet. If this is your first time login in or if you forgot your password, click 'forgot your password.' Follow the prompts on the screen in order to receive an email with a temporary link to reset your password (check your junk/spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox)
