Reston Association Parks & Recreation has a wide range of volunteer opportunities and we are happy to work with individuals or groups to find the best volunteer placement based on your interests or needs.

Nominations Open for 2020 Reston Association Volunteer Service Awards

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Reston Association Volunteer Service Awards. Members of the community are invited to recognize individuals, groups and businesses whose volunteer service has benefited Reston Association and the Reston community. Please email nominations to Ha Brock, Volunteer Reston Manager, at ha@reston.org no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020.

Nominations are accepted in six categories:

  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Youth Volunteer of the Year
  • 55+ Volunteer of the Year
  • Group Volunteer of the Year
  • Community Business Partner of the Year
  • Committee or Work Group of the Year

Halloween House & Trick-or-Treat Trail at the Nature Center (October)

The Walker Nature Center’s Halloween event is one of our most exciting volunteer opportunities of the year. We’re looking for energetic volunteers to bring this event to life. This is a great opportunity for adults, teens, civic organizations, and college groups. Jobs include:

• Characters
• Trail Assistants
• Hands-on Craft Assistants
• Face Painters
• Mascots and Mascot Escorts
• Set up and breakdown

Multicultural Festival at Lake Anne Plaza (September)

Every year, RA and the Reston Community Center bring together the people of Reston for the Reston Multicultural Festival. Celebrate diversity with family, friends, and neighbors the music, entertainment, dress, food and cultural treasures from all over the world.

Spring Festival at the Nature Center (May)

The festival will feature entertainment, displays and information from environmental groups, hands-on nature activities, carnival style games, canoe and kayak rentals on Lake Audubon, fishing activities, food and a whole lot of fun.

We are looking for volunteers to help with carnival games, hands-on crafts, registration, fishing, and much more. Other events include:
