Preparing for Wintry Weather

With the winter season upon us, Reston Association is urging its members to stay informed on weather conditions by checking the Fairfax County Emergency Information blog. Additional information about plowing can be found on RA's Snow Removal FAQs web page. Updates about RA closings and postponements will be posted on our social media pages.

2018 Annual Assessment

The Reston Association Board of Directors set the 2018 annual assessment at $682. Members can learn more about the fee by visiting our Assessments & Fees web page on www.reston.org. RA will be mailing out information to members about the assessment in the coming days (mid-December).

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Reston Association's headquarters, Central Services Facility and Walker Nature Center are among the locations where food donations can be made through Nov. 20, 2017. For more locations, addresses and information about what food items are needed, go to the Reston Community Center website.

Budget, Assessment to be Finalized

The Reston Association Board of Directors is scheduled to finalize the 2018/2019 biennial budget and the 2018 annual assessment rate at its Thursday, Nov. 16 meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at RA headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive.

Public Meetings on RA Budget

There will be two special meetings of the Reston Association Board of Directors this month. Both meetings will provide RA members with an opportunity to provide feedback about the proposed 2018/2019 biennial budget and the 2018 annual assessment rate. The public hearings will be held Oct. 26 and Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at RA headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive.

Bus Tour for Newcomers

Join us on a guided bus tour of Reston's most interesting places. This Oct. 21 tour is for newcomers to Reston. The tour begins at The Lake House Sponsored by Comstock at 10 a.m. and is limited to new RA property owners within the last six months. More information.

Reston Home Expo

This year's Reston Expo: Home, Garden & More will have a variety of exhibitions, food and entertainment. The event will be held at its new location, 1880 and 1900 Campus Commons Drive on Saturday, Sept. 30. The expo opens to the public at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

Special Board Meeting

The Reston Association Board of Directors will consider draft 1 of the 2018 operating and capital budgets as proposed by RA staff at a special meeting from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive. A board work session will be held at 7:30 p.m. to discuss amendments to the association’s conflict of interest policy and proposed code of ethics policy for board directors and officers.

Input Sought on Pool Schedule

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee will be available at the Sept. 10 Lake House open house from 10 a.m.-noon to collect member input on the 2017 pool schedule. Come share your thoughts and suggestions for 2018. Comments can also be emailed to prac@reston.org. The Lake House is located at 11450 Baron Cameron Ave.

Budget Sessions Open to Members

The Reston Association Board of Directors reviewed a first draft of the 2018/2019 biennial budget at a public meeting Aug. 14. Two other budget work sessions will be held Sept. 18 to consider the decision points presented in the draft budget and to provide guidance to RA staff as to what should or should not be included in the 2018/2019 operating and capital budgets. The September meetings will be from noon-5 p.m. and 7:30-10 p.m.
