New Assessment Billing System

RA is transitioning to a new online assessment billing system that will be available for members to make their 2020 assessment payment online beginning Dec. 16. The previous online billing system is no longer available. If you wish to make your 2020 assessment payment before Dec. 16, please contact RA’s Financial Services team at 703-435-7991 or email financial_services@reston.org. Payment by check only will be accepted. We cannot accept credit card payments before Dec. 16.

The Reston Association Board of Directors will hold a budget workshop Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at RA headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive. The board will discuss the 2020-2021 budget, the annual assessment rate and related financial topics. The meeting is open to all RA members.

Lake Thoreau Pool Structural Analysis Update

Engineers hired by Reston Association have received preliminary test results for the pool’s concrete decking and shell. They are awaiting test results on the soil samples before completing their analysis and providing recommendations. A completed report is expected in October 2019 and the results and recommendations are scheduled to be presented at the Board of Directors meeting.

Budget Workshop Aug. 21

The Reston Association Board of Directors and the Fiscal Committee will hold a joint meeting on Aug. 21 to discuss the first draft of the 2020-2021 budget, which will be finalized in November. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at RA headquarters, 12000 Sunrise Valley Drive, and is open to the public.

VDOT Extends Roadway Bidding

Reston Association learned recently that the Virginia Department of Transportation has extended its roadway mowing contract bids to June 11. Most roadway medians in Reston are maintained by VDOT. Grass along some roadways is not expected to be mowed until VDOT has hired workers to do the job. RA is urging state transportation officials to expedite the contracting process so that the work can be completed. RA members are also encouraged to visit the VDOT website for more information or to contact the department about any particular road maintenance issues in Reston.

Call for BOD Candidates

Due to a recent resignation from the Reston Association Board of Directors, qualified candidates can apply for the seat on the nine-member board by submitting a statement of candidacy to the assistant secretary by May 16 at 5 p.m. The board will discuss candidates' qualifications at its May 23 meeting. Because this will be a board-appointed position, the term will only run through April 2020.
