The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee advises the Reston Association Board of Directors on the sound management and development of facilities and amenities for association members, the delivery of association sponsored or co-sponsored recreation/leisure activities and services and the prioritization of funding for capital improvements and recreation services.
A review and evaluation of Common Area facility levels of service and utilization, and the desirability of adding/converting/modifying or eliminating facilities and services.
An assessment of park and recreation needs.
Identifying opportunities for funding and/or partnerships to implement facility and program improvements.
An evaluation of existing programs for the purpose of recommending new programs, changes to existing programs, or the elimination of programs.
In coordination with the association’s Department of Parks & Recreation, an exploration of initiatives that will optimize members’ use of Common Area facilities, programs, and services.
A community engagement initiative designed to involve members in parks and recreation planning and evaluation activities.
An annual update and prioritization of the association’s Parks & Recreation Capital Improvements Plan.
This committee is envisioned to be composed of representatives from a broad cross section of recreation user groups, including but not limited to football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, swimming, running, and triathlons.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee usually meets on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the conference center at RA headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston.
