Application
Each
year, donations from organizations, businesses and
individuals to the Reston Association Camp Scholarship
Fund make it possible for economically disadvantaged
children of Reston to attend our valuable summer
camp program. It is our pleasure to announce that
RA will again be offering camp scholarships for
summer 2008.
Each
camp scholarship covers the cost of tuition, roundtrip
transportation and two camp shirts. Scholarships are
available for:
•Hug-A-Tree
(Ages 5-7)
•Mini Camp (Ages 5-10)
•Day Camp (Ages 7-11)
•Science Camp (Ages 8-12)
•Counselor-In-Training (Ages 14-16)
At
camp, the children will have opportunities to interact
with positive role models and enjoy typical camp activities
such as crafts, hiking, boating, swimming, sports and
games. Most important, in a safe and exciting environment
they are able to develop the self-confidence, abilities,
skills and interests that help them grow up to become
good citizens and successful employees.
In
addition to the scholarship application eligible youth
must:
•Be
Reston residents
•Have economic need (ex: reside in county subsidized
housing or participate in the school meal program)
•Commit to attending a full camp session (1
or 2 weeks)
•Agree to complete all required camp forms following
acceptance of their scholarship application
•Include a $25.00 deposit per camper for each session 1 - 4 or a $12.50
deposit per camper for session 5 with this form (Your deposit will only be used
if your camper is awarded the scholarship. The scholarship will cover all remaining
costs of the camp, including transportation and t-shirts as required. Your deposit
will be returned if your child does not receive the scholarship.)
