CORE ACTIVITIES

Campers will…

  • Participate in hands-on nature activities, sports, games, crafts, music, drama and swimming
  • Enjoy pool parties, daytime cookouts/picnics, festivals and special entertainers
  • Go on field trips within Reston and to selected sites outside of Reston
  • Learn cooperative skills through small group interaction and team building activities

No camp on July 4th. Special carnival extravaganza July 2nd.
Space Campers

Warp Speed Ahead! Discover new life in the universe (or at least in Reston). Create a solar system, communicate with aliens, and invent your own space culture. Intergalactic communications tell us that Day Camp has been chosen for alien contact. Is there anybody out there?

2. July 7–July 18
Calling all Contestants

Challenge your mind! Play Day Camp Jeopardy, dazzle your peers with trivia knowledge, have a dance contest and compete in the amazing race. Create a work of art and build a new invention to put before our judges. Call your shot on the Miniature Golf Course. It’s all about the games.

3. July 21–August 1
Totally Trendy

What is the hottest music of today, the coolest movie, and the best book? What does it really mean to be Green? Let’s explore just what kind of impact we have on our environment. Get down and dirty at the Walker Nature Education Center and learn about composting. We will explore the
latest trends and make our own “green” art, games, and fun!

4. August 4–August 15
Olympic Celebration

Be a champion! Can you jump the highest, swim the fastest, or score the most points? Try your hand at some Olympic sports like basketball, soccer and volleyball or be on your group’s relay swim team. Earn points
each day, and go after the team prize! Make your own awards. Search for champion wildlife and trees. Invent your own games and have a camp-wide Olympics celebration! Everyone will achieve a personal best.
