The Reston Association Human Resources Department
(HRD) generally uses the following procedure for filling
all open positions.
Completed Employment Applications are reviewed by
HRD staff, and qualified applications are forwarded
to the appropriate hiring supervisor. The supervisor
reviews these applications and selects applicants for
interview. Once the supervisor has completed interviewing
he/she makes a tentative selection and reference checks
are conducted on that applicant. If the reference check
is satisfactory an employment offer is made. Employment
offers are contingent upon successful completion of
a background check and drug screening. Some positions
may require a driving record review an additional background
checks.
Background checks and drug screenings are conducted
on every new hire. Background checks and drug screenings
are conducted on every rehired employee if that employee
has not had a check within the past 3 years from his/her
rehire date.
