 At the Task Force meeting on Tuesday, February 23, there were several presentations.

You can find all the presentations on the County's page for previous meetings of the Task Force.

The first four presentations were about planning for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) In Fairfax, Montgomery, and Arlington Counties as well as a discussion about the RMAG study.

The last presentation was an overview of the Herndon-Monroe transit station area.

I met with RA committee chairs, co-chairs, and staff liaisons this morning. It was a good session with a lively exchange of ideas.

This past Saturday, I facilitated a meeting with RA's committee chairs. Lots of good ideas came out of the discussion. Here are some notes from that meeting.

General Ideas/comments

  • Recommendations for changes would add 23k more residential units
  • Can Reston survive this?
  • We need to avoid an US vs. THEM mentality.

 Welcome to the place where you can get updates and perspective on the process involved in reviewing and updating Reston’s Master Plan.

I am RA Director Paul Thomas, and I was appointed by Fairfax County Supervisor Cathy Hudgins to serve as a member of the Reston Master Plan Special Study Task Force, which will be looking at specific areas over the next two years. The Task Force will be making recommendations for updates to the County's comprehensive plan that will be advanced to the Fairfax County Planning Commission and ultimately to the Board of Supervisors.
