About the Headquarters
After more than 40 years at the 1930 Isaac Newton Square location, the Reston Association (RA) signed a 12-year lease for space located at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, in the Reston Corner office complex and moved in late July 2010.
How Does a Building Receive LEED Certification?
A third party certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) uses a seven category rating system - Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation & Design Process, and Regional Priority Credits
LEED points are awarded on a 100-point scale, and credits are weighted to reflect their potential environmental impact The 2009 USGBC Scale is as follows:
Certified: 40-49
Silver: 50-59
Gold: 60-79
Platinum: 80-100
RA anticipates its Headquarters to become LEED Silver Certified
