Trees Removed to Create Safe Path Near School

In order to meet Fairfax County Planning Commission requirements and VDOT line-of-sight easements, trees are being removed along Cross School Road near the parking lots, entrance and front field at Sunrise Valley Elementary School. Reston Association’s Design Review Board has approved the work, which began last fall and will continue through sometime next year.

Reston Association has announced the hiring of Mike Leone as Director of Communications & Community Engagement. He will join RA’s senior leadership team June 9. Leone’s most recent position was Chief Communications Officer for the nonprofit, Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C.

RA Attorneys File Appeal Concerning BZA's Golf Course Ruling

Reston Association has filed an appeal of the decision made by the Fairfax County Board of Zoning appeals regarding Reston National Golf Course. The appeal, submitted last week in Fairfax County Circuit Court, challenges the BZA’s April 15, 2015 ruling that overturned the Zoning Administrator’s earlier decision related to the course and the Comprehensive Plan.

After a month-long referendum that ended last Friday, and with almost 33% of eligible Reston Association voters casting ballots, the RA Board of Directors is now authorized to borrow up to $2.65 million to purchase the 3.47-acre Tetra property (formerly the Reston Visitors Center), located at 11450 Baron Cameron Ave.
