VDOT Extends Bidding Process; Delays Mowing of Medians

Due to an extension in the bidding process granted by the Virginia Department of Transportation, grass mowing along some of Reston’s roadways could face further delays. Reston Association learned this week that VDOT has extended the time allowed for companies to bid on the mowing contract until June 11.

RA Seeking to Return to Regular Pool Schedule

(UPDATED May 30, 2019) Reston Association is working to address issues that led to a few pools being closed over the Memorial Day weekend. Most of the closings were related to a shortage of lifeguards to staff all of RA’s 15 outdoor pools. Some lifeguards called in sick. Additional problems were related to equipment failures and vandalism.

Britt Selected to Fill Seat on RA Board

Douglas Britt was selected by the Reston Association Board of Directors Thursday night to fill the empty at-large seat on the board. The seat became vacant due to a resignation last month. Because this is a board-appointed position, the term will only run through April 2020. The seat will then be placed on the election ballot in 2020 and the winning candidate will serve the final year of the term.

WBJ: Reston National Purchased by Baltimore Companies

Reston National Golf Course has been purchased by two Baltimore developers, according to an article in the Washington Business Journal. There have been no publicly announced plans for the course from the new owners, however, grassroots members of Rescue Reston said on social media that they are gearing up for another potential fight to prevent the land from being developed.
