The annual Volunteer Reston Service Awards recognize individuals, groups and community partners who have provided exemplary volunteer service to Reston Association and the Reston community. This year’s honorees represent seven categories.
Reston Association is working with Lake Services, Inc. to dredge the accumulated sediment from the main coves of Lake Thoreau beginning at the earliest April 1. Dredging is expected to be completed by the end of June. Dredging will not occur at the shoreline edge or within 5 feet of any dock structure.
At its monthly meeting March 22, the Reston Association Board of Directors approved two motions that are considered critical next steps to the establishment of strong internal controls. A substantially revised procurement and purchasing resolution was approved that would require the board to review and approve all contracts and agreements with expenditures of over $24,999.
The Reston Association Board of Directors voted in favor of forming a working group to provide recommendations regarding the association’s policies on lakes, docks and boats. The group will be tasked with providing suggestions to the board about amending related governing documents.
Volunteers are needed for the 30th Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup on April 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. Historically, thousands of residents from multiple states have participated in this event.
