Reston Association is closely monitoring news regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and would like to encourage our members to take the necessary precautions as recommended by the Fairfax County Health Department and other local, state and federal agencies. In addition, RA is canceling all recreational activities and events and most meetings through March 29.
The Nature House at the Walker Nature Center is closed to the public effective Monday, March 16.
The Board of Directors meeting on March 19 will be an abbreviated session held by conference call and live streamed for members to view on YouTube. Click here to watch the meeting live. No members or guests will be permitted to attend.
All other RA advisory and work group meetings have been canceled. This includes: the March 17 Design Review Board, March 18 Fiscal Committee and March 18 Covenants Committee meetings. RA will continue to monitor information on COVID-19 and will re-evaluate the meeting schedule on March 30 and will notify members and volunteers should RA need to further extend any meeting dates beyond March.
RA is currently taking other steps to help protect our employees and visitors to our facilities and will reassess later this month whether or not to resume activities and events in April.
To deter the spread of the virus, our building management service has implemented new cleaning guidelines that include regularly wiping down high touch points such as door handles, water fountain buttons and elevator panels.
The association has also set up a special team to assist members with making their assessment payments online. We recommend that property owners use this service to avoid standing in potentially crowded lines at RA headquarters. Earlier this month, RA extended the assessment payment deadline to March 31. We strongly encourage members to use the WebTrac online payment portal. If you have difficulty logging in to your WebTrac account to pay your assessment fee or make other purchases, please email your name, property address or account number to firstname.lastname@example.org. Emails will be responded to within two business days. You can also call 703-435-7994 Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance from our special help team through the end of March.
RA management is also putting a teleworking plan in place for employees who have household members with coronavirus symptoms. As always, employees who are sick with any contagious illness are encouraged to stay home in order to not expose coworkers or any residents they might interact with while at work.
For the most up-to-date information, we recommend members check the RA website (www.reston.org) regularly and follow us on social media. You can also sign up for our weekly newsletter by providing your email address at the bottom of any RA website page or by texting RANEWS to 22828.
As health experts predict the coronavirus will continue to spread globally and present new challenges for businesses, organizations and governments, we at Reston Association want to do our part to help keep the Reston community informed and safe.
Please visit the Fairfax County website for additional resources, including school and travel information, about the coronavirus.
