(UPDATED April 11, 2018) The results of the month-long Board of Directors’ election were announced at the 2018 Annual Members' Meeting Tuesday, April 10. Reston Association members elected a district director and three at-large directors to fill the four open seats.
The newly elected board members include the following:
- Julie Bitzer, South Lakes District
- Sridhar Ganesan, At-Large (3-year term)
- Ven Iyer, At-Large (3-year term)
- Andy Sigle, At-Large (1-year term)
Officers were selected at the new board’s first meeting Wednesday, April 11. Officer positions include David Bobzien, president; Sridhar Ganesan, vice president; John Mooney, secretary; and Eric Carr, treasurer.
This year’s month-long election ended April 2. The overall percentage of voters in the 2018 election showed an increase compared with other recent elections. About 19 percent of eligible voters cast ballots, with the numbers being higher in some districts.
RA members elect three new directors to the nine-person board each year. This year, a fourth seat was open due to a board member vacating his seat early. Voters selected Andy Sigle to serve the remainder of the term.
The board election is overseen by the Elections Committee. Balloting is conducted by the third-party counting agent, Intelliscan Inc. All eligible RA members, including renters, are given the opportunity to vote by paper or electronic ballots. Results of the election are posted on the Board Election page of the RA website.
The RA board is responsible for determining the long-range mission and goals of the association. It establishes policies, monitors finances, approves budgets and sets the annual assessment rate. Among the tasks facing the new board will be the hiring of a permanent CEO and refining the second year of the 2018-2019 biennial budget, which was approved in 2017.
